I’m biased about #Tunisia. The first girl who ever asked me out was a Tunisienne and let’s just say I left my heart in Tatooine (the name of a real place out there). That being said—Tunis is cosmopolitan, secular yet religious pluralistic, harshly opposed to anti-Semitism (many Tunisians fought and died to save Jews during the Holocaust) and by far the most progressive country after Israel on women’s rights in the greater Middle East. I’ve come to love and respect the hard work the Tunisians have put into jumpstarting and protecting their democracy. So glad I met a reformist female member of parliament tonight.
